A ginger root is the rhizome of the plant Zingiber Officinale and is consumed as a delicacy, medicine or a SPICE.(Very,very potent and strong) If consumed in reasonable quantities, ginger has few negative side effects, and is on the FDA's "generally recognized as safe" list. Since The L.A. BEAST thinks the 0.75 lb chunk of Ginger Root that he consumed was of reasonable quantity, The Ginger Root challenge becomes the safest and first kind of FDA approved challenge in the history of L.A.
